Introduction

Fibre-optic Light-guides have a great many useful features that can benefit hazardous laboratory or heavy industrial environments. Aside from the standard products in this section Fibreoptico provides a complete bespoke manufacturing service.

Light guide properties

  • CASE STUDY - MRI Scanner Room installation for the University Of Sussex University Hospital , June 2010 Case study here.
  • Produce low UV and IR therefore transmit "Cold light".
  • Robust - Heavily shock resistant
  • Can be upto 10 meters long from light light source
  • Intrinsically safe - in water or explosive liquids
  • Can be completely customised by changing parameters of sheathing type, end termination and light source power and polished service specification.
  • Long Life - High transmission polymer fibre for normal use. Glass fibre for high temperature applications.
  • No metal parts or RFI- For applications such as Magnetic Resonance Image scanner rooms the light source can be located outside the scanner room eliminating RFI and the risks associated with metals in close proximity to the MRI's powerful magnetic field. A further benefit is that maintanence tasks on the light source can be quick, easy and cause almost no scanner-room down-time.
