THE FIBRE OPTIC COMPANY COMPELTES HAYMARKET SWIMMING POOL STAR CEILING PROJECT
The Fibre Optic Company has successfully completed an impressive integrated dimmable fibre optic star lighting and vapour barrier system swimming pool installation at the prestigious boutique Haymarket Hotel. The 18m pool which forms part of the hotels prestigious spa, health and fitness suite is superbly finished using the unique Barrisol-Fibre Optic Company star lighting and stretched ceiling system installation provided by it’s swimming ceiling partners, MCS.
Design problems that were tackled: Swimming pool lighting projects bring with them unique lighting challenges associated with very high humidity environments. Standard Fibre Optic lighting systems use fittings designed for conventional plaster or suspended ceilings that can cause vapour to leak into other areas of the ceiling or to propagate though the building. They also damage the ceiling over time and leads to poor longevity of the installation and potentially damage to other building features and electrical systems. In addition maintenance of light points over pools needs to be taken into consideration, draining the pool or erecting scaffolding each time a bulb needs to be chanced in neither practical nor cost efficient.
It’s not hard to see that for the above reasons why many designers opt out of providing illumination directly over pools.
The solution? The Fibre Optic Company ‘Vapour barrier multi point star system’. Maintenance issues are overcome by strategically locating light sources for easy access. The installation uses ten systems comprising, high transmission polymer fibre, coupled with dimmable fan cooled 50w light sources and finished with vapour barrier fittings designed exclusively for Barrisol ceilings. The installation generates some 3,200 star points! The lamp changes are every 10,000 to 12,000 hours which means if the system is running eight hours a day means a bulb change every four years.
In conclusion: Guests at the Haymarket hotel can bath and relax under the star lit pool returning to their luxurious rooms for a well earned rest. By the same token the hotel and facilities managers can sleep a little better knowing that need not worry about bulb replacements, mould, structural damage and health problems for their guests or staff caused by damp or humidity for some time to come.
